How to check your PNR status

As far as transportation is concerned, trains are the most common mode. Of course, there are some better options, but most people just can’t afford them. Trains are considered to be cheap and effective means of transportation.

Check your PNR status

If you travel by train, we advise you to keep an eye on your PNR status. Status may change as certain guaranteed tickets are canceled.

You need to check your status again and again before the big day, especially if your ticket status is still “waiting” or “RAC”. In most cases, the “RAC” status becomes “confirmed” in a short order, but the “wait” status may take some time to change.

Although you can go to the official website of the railways to check the status, know that the process is slow. Another problem is that you can check the status only if you book tickets through their official site, not third party sites.

So, it is better to look for a convenient alternative. There are many third party sites that can help you check the status of your ticket. All you have to do is provide your PNR number. Your status will appear in a moment or two.

What is PNR status?

Most residents are familiar with PNR. However there may be some passengers who are not familiar with this term. It could be any foreigner who can stay on this tour. So, if you are a foreigner, we can help you understand the term better.

If you don’t know, the term PNR is short for “passenger name record”. Initially, this number is stored in the railway database along with other information such as age, name and number of passengers to travel.

In general terms, as soon as you book a ticket you will be given a 10-digit number which will now be saved in the database. It will contain some more information about you. Depending on the number of passengers confirmed, this status may vary. Therefore, it is important to check the status several times to make sure your seat is secure.

The number will contain lots of details about you such as your train name, travel time, date, gender and much more. Your privacy will not be compromised, though. Even if you use some third-party applications or websites, your personal information will not be compromised. Even if someone has access to your PNR number, they can only check your status, nothing else. Your important details, such as your name and address, will not be displayed.

Except for your ticket status, nothing else will be shared, including your gender, age or travel destination.

In short, if you are going to travel by train, we advise you to use a good third party website to check the status of your ticket. You only use those sites if you have a good rating
